Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using taakt ("Service", "we", "our", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We also recommend reading our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.
2. Description of the Service
taakt is a personal time-blocking and work journal application. It allows you to create tasks and projects, block time on a calendar, optionally sync with Google Calendar, and generate AI-powered summaries of your work. The Service is provided by the operator of taakt.app.
Some features may be marked as "beta" or "experimental". These features are provided for testing purposes and may be unstable, incomplete, or subject to change or removal without notice.
3. Account and Registration
You must create an account to use the Service. You may sign up with an email address and password or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and notify us of any unauthorized use.
4. Use of Google Services (Google API / OAuth)
taakt may use Google APIs (including Google Calendar and Google Sign-In). Your use of taakt is also subject to:

What we request and how we use Google data
- Google Sign-In: If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile (name, email, profile picture) to create and authenticate your taakt account.
- Google Calendar (read-only): If you connect your Google account to taakt, we request read-only access to your Google Calendar. OAuth scopes:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly,https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.readonly. We use this solely to display your calendar events (e.g. meetings) inside taakt so you can see them alongside your tasks and time blocks. We do not create, modify, or delete events in your Google Calendar. - We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not sell Google user data to third parties. We use the data only to provide and improve the Service as described here and in our Privacy Policy. We comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy and Limited Use requirements.
Your control and revocation
- You can disconnect your Google account from taakt at any time via Settings > Integrations (or equivalent). When you disconnect, we immediately stop accessing your Google data and delete synced calendar data from our systems.
- You can also revoke taakt's access to your Google account at any time via your Google account permissions ( myaccount.google.com/permissions ).
By connecting your Google account to taakt, you consent to this use of your Google data in accordance with these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not connect your Google account.
Jira (optional): If you connect Jira, we use Atlassian APIs with read-only access to display your Jira issues and projects in taakt. Your use of Jira is subject to Atlassian's terms. You can disconnect Jira at any time from Settings > Integrations.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe the intellectual property or other rights of others
- Transmit malware, spam, or harmful or illegal content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems
- Abuse, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service to build a competing product or scrape data beyond normal use
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or acceptable use.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, branding, and content we provide, is owned by us or our licensors. You retain ownership of the content you create (tasks, notes, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service. We do not claim ownership of your content.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. You use the Service at your own risk. We are not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of third-party services (e.g. Google Calendar) integrated with the Service.
AI Features: taakt uses third-party AI services (transcription, summarization). These features are provided "as is" and we do not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or reliability. You should review AI-generated content before relying on it. We are not responsible for errors or inaccuracies in AI outputs.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we (and our affiliates, officers, and employees) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business opportunities, arising from your use or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or one hundred euros (100 EUR), whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in such cases, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless taakt and its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms or for other legitimate reasons (including discontinuation of the Service). Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. We may retain certain data as described in our Privacy Policy (e.g. for legal or security purposes). Where you have connected Google, disconnecting and terminating your account will result in our ceasing access to your Google data and deletion of synced data as described in Section 4.
11. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the new Terms constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and may close your account.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of France. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France, unless otherwise required by mandatory law in your country of residence.
